PRESENTATION OBJECTIVES:

At the conclusion of this program, the participants will be able to:

 

•  Define and discuss the pathophysiological changes, clinical signs and symptoms of pain after spinal cord injury (SCI);

 

•  Outline the conventional therapy used in treatment of pain after SCI;

 

•  Outline the role of sodium channels in pain transmission in the spinal cord

 

•  Describe how dysregulation of sodium channel expression can lead to abnormal pain syndromes.
