PRESENTATION OBJECTIVES
At the conclusion of this presentation, attendees will be able to:
1. Recognize that endogenous neuroprotectant
pathways are activated in the acute, subacute and delayed periods after CNS
injury
2. Recognize that some pathways contribute dichotomous detrimental and beneficial
effects depending on the timing, cellular localization and other key facets
of the injury
3. Obtain an in depth understanding of two representative pathways that exhibit
dichotomous roles in CNS injury, namely adenosine and inducible nitric oxide
synthase.
