PRESENTATION OBJECTIVES

At the conclusion of this presentation, attendees will be able to:

1.   Discuss cell-based therapies that are currently and were previously used in spinal cord injury clinical trials.

2.   Identify therapies that are synergistic with cell-based therapies for regeneration of the spinal cord.

3.   Indicate practice and scientific obstacles to clinical trials of cell-based therapies in the United States.

4.   Outline mechanisms of action of cell-based and regenerative combination therapies in spinal cord injury.

5.   Describe transplantation protocols and outcome meausres in animal and clinical trials.
