This years'
theme of "Bedside to Benchtop
to Bedside" provided insight into meaningful
research with the objective of targeting both clinical trials
and basic research for improved functional recovery. The
scientific program spanned the gamut of clinical
pathophysiology, treatment strategies, basic research models and
molecular approaches involved in CNS neurotrauma.
If you
attended this year, you are probably already planning for next year
in Washington, DC...and if you were not able to attend, don't miss
out on NNS 2005!
Be sure
to visit the NNS 2005 website at www.neurotrauma.org/2005!

At the completion of this
symposium, participants were able to:
1) Discuss the recent, innovative techniques in CNS injury that
include new models, advanced imaging, astrocytic mechanisms of brain
and spinal cord injury, and dysfunction after spinal cord injury.
2) Discuss post translational modification in CNS injury.
3) Discuss the advances in clinical
outcomes measurements.
This
activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the
Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing
Medical Education (ACCME) by the School of Medicine , Virginia Commonwealth
University , Medical College of Virginia Campus (VCU) and the National
Neurotrauma Society. VCU is accredited by the ACCME to provide
continuing medical education for physicians.
Physicians may claim up to 14.5 hours in Type 1 or Type 2 CME on
the Virginia Board of Medicine Continued Competency and Assessment
Form required for renewal of an active medical license.
VCU
designates this educational activity for a maximum of 14.5 hours
in category 1 credits toward the AMA Physician's Recognition Award.
Each physician should claim only those hours of credit that
he/she actually spent in the activity.
This continuing education activity meets the criteria of Virginia
Commonwealth University and the Southern Association of Colleges
and Schools. 1.6 CEUs will be awarded and recorded with the
University.
**Please
note that if you attend the Women in Neurotrauma Research special
lunch presentation session, you may claim an additional 1 hour in
both category 1 credit and Type 1 or Type 2 CME on the Virginia
Board of Medicine Continued Competency and Assessment Form required
