At the conclusion of this program, the participants will be able to:

•  Define and discuss differences in the roles of matrix metalloproteinases in the acutely injured spinal cord and during wound healing;

•  Describe the therapeutic efficacy of matrix metalloproteinase inhibitors for spinal cord injury;

•  Address the biologic basis for matrix metalloproteinase-mediated tissue damage and glial scar formation.
