Presentation Objectives

At the end of this presentation, the participants will be able to:

1. Describe the results of preclinical studies of magnesium for brain injury.

2. Outline the study design and outcome measures of the trial of magnesium for traumatic brain injury.

3. Summarize the effect of magnesium supplementation on mortality, seizures, and neurobehavioral functioning after traumatic brain injury as well as the adverse effects.
