GLIAL
ACTIVATION IN TBI: ACUTE ASTROCYTE PATHOLOGY
At the conclusion of this presentation,
attendees will be able to:
- Define and discuss the pathophysiological
changes that can occur to astrocytes within the first 24 hours after traumatic
brain injury.
- State the significance of astrocytes
in normal glutamate signaling.
- Explain the significance of astrocytes
in the pathological process of glutamate excitotoxicity.
- Identify potential targets for therapeutic
intervention that may reduce acute astrocyte pathophysiology after traumatic
brain injury.
