DAVID MEANEY

At the conclusion of this presentation, attendees will be able to:

1. Review NMDAR physiology and expression in the brain
2. Provide an overview of NMDAR antagonists studies to treat traumatic brain injury
3. Explain experimental studies showing the patterns of hippocampal cell death caused by traumatic brain injury
4. Present and review data examining the relative effectiveness of different subunit specific NMDAR antagonists for treating TBI
5. Outline data showing the activation of different mitogen activated protein kinase (MAPK) pathways following TBI, and the role that different NMDAR populations contribute to each MAPK activation
6. Present data on the role of NMDAR mediated MAPK activation in neuronal death following TBI
