I recently visited Kansas City and stayed at the Westin Hotel which is located at Hallmark Crown Center. The hotel is first class and is the best hotel that NNS has ever booked:

Inside the Westin there is a spectacular indoor waterfall that is just outside the General Session and Poster Session Ballrooms where our breaks will be held.

The WWI Memorial next to the Westin. This is the only WWI memorial in the USA.
The massive base of the memorial houses a first rate museum and offers excellent views of the city.

Inside Union Station there are restaurants, museums, and an Amtrak stations offering daily service to KC.  Union Station is connected to the Westin by the Skylink - an air-conditioned, glass-enclosed elevated walkway.
Country Club Plaza is nearby (10 min by taxi or KC transit) with interesting architecture, great restaurants, and shopping.
