To understand the mechanism of progressive ICP elevation and clinical deterioration following brain injury.
To understand the pathophysiology of the early massive edema caused by severe cerebral contusion.
To understand the relation the early massive edema and a high osmolality within the necrotic brain tissue.
To evaluate the result of surgical excision of the necrotic brain tissue in patients with cerebral contusion.
