Presentation: “Pathophysiology of Blast Traumatic Brain Injury and Polytrauma”
Date: July 28, 2008
Objectives:
1) To recognize the complex effects of polytrauma in the setting of both experimental and clinical traumatic brain injury.
2) To be familiar with experimental models of combined traumatic brain injury and secondary insults – including blast-induced traumatic brain injury.
3) To understand some of the key features of extracerebral and cerebral effects of blast injury.
4) To recognize the important role of blast-induced traumatic brain injury in both the setting of combat casualty care and civilian terrorist attacks.
