SYMPATHETIC NERVOUS SYSTEM and IMMUNE DYSREGULATION AFTER SCI
At
the conclusion of this presentation, attendees will be able to:
1.) Explain level-dependent
regulation of immune function and the implications of SCI at above and below
the spinal level at which the sympathetic nervous system (SNS) influence peripheral
immune organs
2.) Describe autonomic dysreflexia
and outline the potential implications of spontaneous dysreflexia on survival
and function of immune cells.
3.) Discuss how SCI-mediated
disruption of the SNS could impact prophylactic and therapeutic vaccination
strategies.
