Diversity Awards

NNS provides a limited number of trainee and diversity awards each year to ensure trainees are given every opportunity to attend the conference and present their work. Anyone who registers to attend the conference and also submits an abstract may apply for a trainee and diversity grant. Cash awards are based on financial need and merit.

To apply for a trainee and diversity award, you must register online, then submit an abstract in order to activate the trainee and diversity award application section. In the event your abstract is not accepted, a refund for your registration fee may be requested.

Eligibility Requirements for Diversity Awards:

  1. Any trainee from an underrepresented group/minority or with a documented disability that has not received a trainee award from NNS in the past 2 years may apply.
  2. Applicants do not need to be a member of the NNS or AANS/CNS.
  3. Applicants must be first (presenting) author of a submitted abstract.
  4. There is no limit on the number of applications from one lab, however, no more than 1 grant will be awarded to any one lab.
  5. Individuals from underrepresented groups are defined by NOT-OD-20-031 NIH's Interest in Diversity.  https://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/notice-files/NOT-OD-20-031.html
