AANS/CNS Session 1: Spine and Spinal Cord Injury
The purpose of this session is to provide neurosurgeons and researchers who want to understand clinically relevant neurosurgical problems with an update in neurotrauma. Our goal is to enable attendees to improve their understanding of clinical neurotrauma.
At the conclusion of this session, attendees will be able to:
- Discuss current guidelines for management of brain and spinal cord injury and discuss the utility of these guidelines
- Understand methodological limitations related to the study of neurotrauma lead to research findings that may ultimately not translate to all people in society who are afflicted by neurotrauma
- Describe how media dissemination of research has led to decreased public understanding for particular aspects of neurotrauma
