Eligibility to vote: All NNS members are eligible to submit nominations.

Election Period:

Opens: May 12, 2026

Closes: June 10, 2026

Eligibility to vote: Members with Standard, Non student Trainee, and Emeritus membership levels are eligible to vote.

Results will be announced at the Business Meeting during the NNS 2026 Symposium.

In this election period, a total of nine (9) seats are available for nominations:

One (1) President-Elect, July 2026 – June 2027  

One (1) Vice President-Elect, July 2026 – June 2027  

One (1) Secretary-Elect, July 2026 – June 2027  

One (1) Treasurer-Elect, July 2026 – June 2027  

One (1) TEAM Director-Elect, July 2026 – June 2027  

The President-Elect, Vice President-Elect, Secretary-Elect, Treasurer-Elect, and TEAM Director-Elect positions will serve from July 2026 – June 2027 in their respective roles and will take office as President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and TEAM Director from July 202– June 2028

Position Descriptions:
President-Elect

The term of the President-Elect will be for July 2026 – June 2027 prior to assuming the duties of President for the term of 2027-2028. The President-elect will also serve as an ex-officio member of Council, without voting rights. The primary duty of the President is to supervise all the business and affairs of the Society and preside at all meetings of the members and of the Council. The President shall serve as Chair of the Council, nominate the chairs of the Standing Committees for approval by the Council, and to carry out other activities usually pertaining to this office.

The term of the Vice President-Elect will be for July 2026 – June 2027 prior to assuming the duties of Vice-President for the term of 2027-2028. The Vice-President Elect will serve as an ex-officio member without Council voting rights. The primary responsibility of the Vice President is to coordinate the Symposium’s abstracts and the student poster competition and trainee awards. The Vice President shall assist the President and Council in Society initiatives and projects.

The term of the Secretary-Elect will be for July 2026 – June 2027 prior to assuming the duties of the Secretary for the term of 2027-2028. The Secretary-Elect shall serve one (1) year prior to taking office as an ex-officio member of Council without voting rights. The Secretary-Elect shall serve as co-chair of the Membership Committee and assist the Secretary with record-keeping, notices, and reporting duties. Additional duties of the Secretary are assisting the Executive Director to keep accurate records, maintaining an up-to-date membership list, and give notice of all meetings of members and of the Council. The Secretary shall serve as co-chair of the Membership Committee and work with the Communications and Marketing Committee to coordinate Society communications.

The term of Treasurer-Elect will be for July 2026 – June 2027 prior to assuming the duties of the Secretary for the term of 2027-2028. The Treasurer-elect shall be a member of the Finance and Development Committee and assist the Treasurer with record-keeping, notices, and reporting duties. The Treasurer-elect shall serve one (1) year prior to taking office as an ex-officio member of Council without voting rights. – Additional responsibilities of the Treasurer are to assist the Executive Director to send out dues notices and collect all dues and maintain all financial records of the Society. S/he and the Executive Director shall be responsible for all funds and securities of the Society and shall make all disbursements in accordance with the budget approved by the Council. S/he shall submit an annual report of the financial condition of the Society and shall be responsible for any financial reports required by the Internal Revenue Service, the State of Texas or any other governmental entity. The Treasurer will serve as Chair of the Finance Committee.

The term of the TEAM Director-Elect will be for July 2026 – June 2027 prior to assuming the duties of the TEAM Director for the term of 2027-2028. The TEAM Director-Elect shall serve one (1) year prior to taking office as an ex-officio member of Council without voting rights. The TEAM Director shall serve as the chair of the Training Education and Mentoring (TEAM) committee.

(4) Seats – The term for Non officer Council members will be from July 2026-June 2028. The primary responsibility of a Council member is to participate in decisions affecting the Society. Typically, Council members vote on issues as they arise throughout the year, either by email or conference call.
